How to Take Control of Selling Your Own House

Posted by Mark on Wednesday 27 April 2016

Attitudes to selling your own house have changed dramatically over the last few years. No longer are homeowners willing to hand their keys over to someone and wait for the phone to ring about potential buyers. Homeowners feel empowered to take control and manage their own sale themselves - overseeing viewings and even taking their own photos to market their home.

Here at Settled this makes complete sense to us. We believe that the homeowner, as the person who has lived and experienced the property being sold, knows it better than anyone. They are therefore the best person to pass it onto the next owner and with a little help can manage their sale themselves and make the decisions at each stage of the process.

There’s a new way

It’s been projected that 40% of house sales will be online by 2019 and we can see why. The internet has transformed many aspects of our daily lives making everything we do that little bit easier. Just think - the way we book a holiday, listen to music, take a taxi and even bank has changed enormously over the last few years - all with the help of technology.

Houses and property are starting to see this shift too and here at Settled we’re passionate about improving an industry that’s certainly in need of a shake up.

We created Settled because we believe the future of buying and selling homes is all about choice, control and transparency. That's why we allow you to choose your asking price, pick the top photos of your home and decide when the buyer come round to see it. We believe that until that dotted line is signed, it’s your still your home, not just a house. But don’t be daunted, although we believe in enabling homeowners to take control of their sale we don’t leave you to do it alone. We’re here at every stage to help you along (even if that’s just a chat about your plans for the weekend) at a time that’s convenient to you.

We're giving you the choice when selling your house: it's selling your home, your way.
